Last one

Greeting everyone, welcome to my last post  on  this blog.  It  r eally has  been a journey. At the start of the course, I was unsure of what to expect and how I would do, but to my surprise  I noticed that this course had flown by quite smoothly. At the start of this  blog,  I talked about my language learning goals and what I would like to  improve in. The point of this post is to go over  what I have learned  as well  as give you all some personal tips from yours truly to improving in English.     The number one thing to improving and mastering English is not to read the vocabulary and theory for countless hours and studying alone. I have found out that the best way to improve in English i s getting basic repetition in and putting yourself in situations where you need to use English to communicate with others. This  greatly boosts  your basic kit at hand and really trains you for the  rea...

Code Complete, Second Edition - Chapter 7

Today I will be talking about a chapter of a book I was reading during our reading weeks for my English course. The book was really long, and the chapters were decently sizeable as well, so I had to narrow my reading area down to one chapter.   The book itself is essentially a guidebook for writing clearer and better code. Different chapters touch on different topics, but chapter 7 was about creating high quality routines. Routines in coding are essentially functions that you call to use to do tedious stuff, for example to calculate taxes and give you the tax values instantaneously.   The whole book was interesting to me since it had some amazing advice to help me with my coding journey that I started during my studies here at the University of Oulu. I am still figuring things out, but it felt like the right time to read a chapter like this. I felt like I learned some essential things about coding.   Some profound things that I found include the writing of p...

Our musical

Welcome back, y’all. This post will be maybe the most important one for me especially, because this is a topic that I love to talk about. As the title already spoiled it for you, I will go through the process of how me and my group of friends were a part of making a musical.  First of all, I would like to express my gratitude towards my previous school for this amazing opportunity. It was basically a tradition at our school to have students who loved music to take extra courses in it. Throughout them you would make a musical that would be performed for hundreds of people, although our school was in no way a “musical” school.  A couple of friends and I that I had gotten to know formed a little band. We had a really good drummer and the rest of us played guitar as our main instrument. Thankfully one of my friends also had a lot of experience with the piano and therefore we basically had all we needed to play most of the songs. Obviously, guitar experience allowed one of us at a ...
Greetings, and welcome to the first official part of my blog. I’ll be doing a simple introduction of myself as well as talking about what advantages the making of this blog has for me and also setting myself some goals for learning to strengthen my English skills, especially in the writing department. Although being jobless is cool and all, I would prefer getting paid at some point to have my own life. Especially in this line of work, a lot of times the job opportunities are international. That’s a good enough reason to practice some basics of getting my point across in English too. I think we should jump to the introduction part head on. As you may know, I am studying information systems science, and I think that touching a bit on the reason why would be a decent start. Not to get anybody’s hopes up for nothing, it was more of a hunch than any specific reason. Obviously, the evolution of AI made me steer this way a little in hopes of a future job that would pay well. As far as...
