Greetings,
and welcome to the first official part of my blog. I’ll be doing a simple
introduction of myself as well as talking about what advantages the making of
this blog has for me and also setting myself some goals for learning to
strengthen my English skills, especially in the writing department. Although
being jobless is cool and all, I would prefer getting paid at some point to
have my own life. Especially in this line of work, a lot of times the job
opportunities are international. That’s a good enough reason to practice some basics
of getting my point across in English too.
I think we
should jump to the introduction part head on. As you may know, I am studying
information systems science, and I think that
touching a bit on the reason why would be a decent start. Not to get anybody’s
hopes up for nothing, it was more of a hunch than any specific reason. Obviously,
the evolution of AI made me steer this way a little in hopes of a future job
that would pay well. As far as my skills go, I’d say one of my better qualities
is that I learn fast and love to help others. You would assume those perks take
you up the ladder at least a few steps.
Second
topic: Why am I writing this? Excellent question, to which I’d like to answer
something other than the truth, but that’s not how we operate around here: I
was forced to. Not that I hate the idea though. Writing a blog has its upsides,
which I’m sure I’ll find helpful. For example, excessive writing makes you want
to use more interesting words and word combinations. It also forces you to
craft sentences that are fun and interesting to read. I have found that writing
is not that hard for me, but I definitely have some improving to do with trying
to get my point across in English.
Third: Some
SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) English learning
goals for myself. I’d like to increase my vocabulary vastly and find use for
the new words that I’ve learnt. Secondly, I want to be able to write in a more
convincing way that would later help me, for example, acquire a job.
That should
wrap up the first meters of our journey. Here’s to many more, hopefully.
Your reason for choosing this field—spotting the potential in AI and seeking a stable career—is a motivation many can relate to, and pairing that with your fast-learning and helpful nature is a powerful combination. Also, setting SMART goals for your English is a brilliant approach!
ReplyDeleteI really like your perspective on the internationality of our line of studies/work. I can relate to that very well, especially with the job market we are having currently here in Finland. I also appreciate your honesty with the motivation behind the blog.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate to wanting to get paid at some point. Great work with your blog and it's nice to know that you don't really hate blogging even though it was forced on you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great post! It's always super interesting to see the reason other students chose the information processing field. I hope to read more of your posts, and see how your writing will evolve.
